Announcement: Aquaculture Africa 2021 Covid Update – 

In this November 30, 2021 announcement, John Cooksey Executive Director, World Aquaculture Society, organiser of this first Aquaculture Africa announced the meeting postponement.

Due to the new variant of COVID-19 – Omicron and the extensive restrictions being put in place and more restrictions projected, we are postponing AFRAQ21 to 2022. We are verifying dates in late March or mid-May but wanted to give you the decision to postpone as soon as possible. We will try to confirm new dates by the end of this week or the beginning of next week. We will not be doing any refunds at this time but all registrations, abstracts and exhibitor contracts will be continued on to the new dates. www.was.org

New dates AQUACULTURE AFRICA 2021 March 25–28, 2022 – Alexandria, Egypt  

March 25 would be the day of registration and exhibitors moving in and farm tours. March 26, 27, 28 is for the conference and the trade show and of course all the extra workshops, business meeting and staff meetings. African Aquaculture 2021, the first meeting of the World Aquaculture Society Africa Chapter will go ahead as planned as an in-person event in Alexandria, Egypt.  Having assessed the COVID-19 health and safety protocols in Egypt, approval by government and the convention centre (Alexandrina Bibliotheca), AFRAQ21 will go ahead as planned – as an in-person event.

WAS and AFRAQ21 Conference Management is cognizant of the need to hold the Conference under COVID-19 health and safety protocols as stipulated by the government of Egypt as well as the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, to ensure safety of Conference attendees. (vaccination and antigen test prior to enter the building)

  • Registration is open. Complete the online registration form
  • Submission of abstracts and full papers has now been extended to 15th Feb 2022. All abstracts already submitted are valid and will be processed accordingly.

  • Participants are urged to get vaccinated to reduce COVID-19 risks.
