Sheng Long Group opens new aquafeed mill in Vinh Long, Vietnam

In June, Vietnam based Sheng Long Group held an opening ceremony for its new aquafeed mill at Phu Hoa Industrial Park, Vinh Long province in the presence of 600 participants including representatives of local departments, distributors, farmers, banks, suppliers and dealers from Malaysia and India, together with the Board of Directors and employees. Dignitaries included Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee (Nguyen Van Liet); Director of Aquaculture Surveying, Testing and Accreditation Center, Directorate of Fisheries (Vu Tuan Cuong); Head of Vinh Long province Management Board of Industrial Parks (Pham Thanh Khon).

In his welcome speech, Chuang Jie Cheng, General Director of Sheng Long Group, expressed his sincere thanks to Vinh Long government and the distinguished guests for their full support and assistance over the past years, enabling Sheng Long to continue expanding its investment in Vietnam.
With the new plant in operation, Sheng Long has 15 production lines for shrimp feeds and 7 extruders for fish feeds, with a total annual capacity of 650,000 tonnes per year. The market has expanded from Vietnam to Malaysia and India.

The overall production output of Sheng Long for Vietnam and overseas markets is estimated at 600,000 tonnes of shrimp and fish feeds. In addition, there was the production on 2 billion shrimp post larvae. Total turnover was over USD 670 million in 2022. Sheng Long will invest in another fish feed plant in Hai Duong province, which is expected to be ready for production in July 2023.

Nguyen Van Liet- Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee, on behalf of provincial leaders, applauded the company for its decision to invest in Vinh Long. He assured that he is committed to supporting the group, to promptly solve problems arising in accordance with the current regulations and creating the most favourable conditions for an effective business in feed production in the long term.

Vu Tuan Cuong, Director of Aquaculture Surveying, Testing and Accreditation (ASTAC), complimented on Sheng Long’s rapid development as well as appreciated the enthusiasm and responsibility of the management and team in supporting farmers. He said that it was the deep insight into aquaculture, great passion and sympathy for the farmers along with the constant connection between the market, technology, farming techniques and aquaculture species that led to the success of the company. In addition, he said as a public service unit with the main functions of managing aquatic products and inspecting the quality of imported and exported feeds and environmental treatment products used in aquaculture, ASTAC has proactively changed its activities in line with the transformation of management methods, adapting to the reforms in specialised inspection. ASTAC was committed to collaborate further with Sheng Long. 

Hong Phuong, a distributor in An Giang, gave a congratulatory speech on behalf of the distributors.   “All distributors witnessed the progress of the group under the current leadership with “benefits and value creation for customers” as the foundation for the group’s business development. At the same time, it has build a dedicated and professional team, enthusiastically supporting and serving distributors and customers. In less than 10 years, it has become a leading brand in Vietnam.”

With the start of operations of this new factory, Sheng Long will continue to invest in markets in Vietnam and expand further to Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and India. “Furthermore, we always focus on breeding and production of high quality seedstock, including vannamei shrimp, red and black tilapia and snakehead fish. At the same time, we promote animal health products and workable farming models. Our market perspective is to help farmers improve survival rates, increase growth rates and minimise risks,” said Chuang.”

He added, “In 2022, we will also expand our production of tilapia and catfish from fry, feed, farming to processing for export in the hope of improving the competitiveness for the group and bring profits to farmers.”
