Willem van der Pijl will chair a session on this fascinating market segments during the Niche Species (P. monodon and M. rosenbergii) seminar on Day 2 (Thu, 8 Sep) of the 2022 Global Shrimp Forum in Utrecht, NL. van der Pijl is owner of Shrimp Insights and Board Member of the Global Shrimp Forum Foundation.
The session will take the audience on a journey across Asia to present the latest developments in the monodon sector. Robins McIntosh (Senior Vice President, CPF Group) will share his knowledge about P. monodon genetics and monodon production’s expansion into China. Khondokar Mahbubul Haque (Director General, Department of Fisheries, Bangladesh) will give you an overview of how Bangladesh is using a World Bank loan program to accelerate progress in its P. monodon farming sector, and Dhaval Contractor (Partner, Vaishnavi Aquatech) will introduce you to the resurrection of monodon production in India and the role his company has in this resurrection.
In the first panel, Robins McIntosh, Dhaval Contractor, Khondokar Mahbubul Haque will be joined by Minh Phu Seafood Corporation CEO, Le Van Quang, to debate whether that surge of P. monodon production is really about to happen.
After a short break, Glen Illing (Chief Strategy Officer, Enzootic), who will also be at the Finance and Investment Summit, will explain the latest developments in M. rosenbergii genetics and explain the strategic shift that Enzootic made from being focused on genetics to being a vertically integrated M. rosenbergii producer ready to penetrate global markets. Harm Kampen of Primstar B.V. will then outline the greenfield P. monodon farming project his company embarked on in Nigeria.
