Counting down to GSF 2023

Posted on

Between September 5-7, 2023, the second Global Shrimp Forum 2023 will convene in Utrecht. This is the dedicated meeting place for high level executives of the warm water shrimp industry. The event will gather 500 members representing farmers, feed companies, technology suppliers, service providers, processors, exporters, importers, wholesalers, retailers and other industry stakeholders.

In July, GSFF (Global Shrimp Forum Foundation) announced the final touches to the program to guarantee participants the best possible experience. It added that tickets remain for GSF 2023!
In June, it had announced names of the importers, retailers and wholesalers attending the GSF 2023. Recently, it showed that other side of the equation—exporters, farmers and processors. This segment corresponds to a third of the companies registered for the GSF 2023. Delegates are also well-distributed along the supply chain. The top 10 categories are as follows: importers 17.4%; processors and exporters 17.4%; technology providers 11.7%; farmers 11.3%; hatchery operators 10.0%; non-profits 7.4%; feed manufacturers 7.0%; feed ingredients suppliers 6.5%; retailers 6.1% and service providers 5.7%. Another key takeaway is the high share of technology providers—a sign of an influx of innovation into the industry.

A new addition to the program will provide insight into the current knowledge and best practices on decarbonization and animal welfare. GSFF says that whether this relevance is triggered by societal concerns, new regulation or ESG reporting requirements, decarbonisation, climate change and animal welfare will require significant action from the shrimp sector in the next 5 years, and these topics will be discussed in detail by many distinguished speakers and panellists.
“Whilst we are by no means a sustainability conference, sustainability issues are of course high on the priority list of most industry leaders who will be attending. We will dive deeper and more technically on both decarbonisation and animal welfare, as both topics are a top priority for many consumers and industry participants. Conversation and information surrounding these two topics will be very valuable for attendees.”— Willem van der Pijl, Board Member, GSFF. The entire program is available at www.shrimp-forum.com
