Adisseo recently hosted its FeedKind® launch seminar and Calysseo plant visit in Chongqing, China, gathering aquaculture industry participants from Asia Pacific for an exclusive look at the future of sustainable feed ingredients.
FeedKind® is a functional single-cell protein (SCP) developed through a natural fermentation process using methane-oxidizing bacteria. As the world’s first microbial protein produced successfully at industrial scale, FeedKind® offers a next-generation protein solution with high digestibility, gut health benefits, and a minimal environmental footprint — requiring no arable land and low water consumption.
During the seminar, Peng Haitao, General Manager of Calysseo, introduced the patented loop-bioreactor technology behind FeedKind®, while Adisseo’s Technical & Marketing Manager Aqua, Zhao Guiping, shared data on its functional bioactive compounds that promote gut integrity and immune resilience in fish and shrimp.
Prof. Xue Min from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences reinforced the growing need for sustainable alternatives to conventional fishmeal and animal protein, highlighting FeedKind®â€™s advantages in feed processing efficiency, pellet quality, and potential production cost-savings.
Participants also toured the state-of-the-art Calysseo plant — the first of its kind globally — witnessing the innovative technology and rigorous quality processes powering FeedKind® production.
The event generated strong engagement and enthusiasm across the region, reaffirming Adisseo’s commitment to advancing science-based, sustainable solutions for aquaculture.
“FeedKind® opens a new chapter for the aquafeed industry — combining nutrition, functionality, and sustainability in one innovative ingredient,†said Dr Ei Lin Ooi, Business Development Manager, Nutritional Specialties, Aqua at Adisseo.
