Posted on

On 1 October 2025, Royal De Heus signed a Share Purchase Agreement to acquire 100% of CJ Feed & Care’s operations in Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, Cambodia, and the Philippines. Dutch agribusiness giant Royal De Heus is one of the world’s largest animal feed producers.

The transaction marks a significant step in De Heus’ long-term growth strategy. It reflects De Heus’ continued ambition to provide access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food by supporting independent livestock and aquaculture farmers in key growth markets. The deal of approximately 1.2 trillion won (~USD854.5 million) includes 17 feed mills across Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, Cambodia, and the Philippines. This is the South Korean food giant’s third attempt to unload the unit since 2019, according to kedglobal.com

CJ Feed and Care, Indonesia.

CJ Feed & Care operated 27 feed plants across 7 Asian countries. It posted 2.31 trillion won in revenue and 74.6 billion won in operating profit in 2024. It had ambitions to become a global agritech leader through vertical integration and innovation. This sale if part of CJ CheilJedang’s Strategy a broader restructuring strategy to exit non-core businesses and shore up finances. Previous divestments were in China and Brazil, including CJ Selecta and Jixiangju Food (kedglobal.com)

Since its entry into Vietnam in 2009, De Heus has steadily built a strong presence across Asia. The acquisition of CJ Feed & Care reinforces its position in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia, while enabling direct market access to South Korea and the Philippines, two strategically important countries with significant growth potential in animal protein production.

Consistent with its strategy as an animal nutrition-focused company, De Heus reaffirms its commitment to independent farmers. This acquisition facilitates broader access to high-quality nutrition, genetics, and technical support for farmers while actively contributing to the development of a competitive and resilient livestock farming sector.

By combining our expertise in animal nutrition, farm management, and animal health with CJ Feed & Care’s strong local presence, we can create even greater value for our customers, partners, and the wider sector. Together, we will continue empowering independent farmers and contributing to a more resilient and sustainable food system for generations to come.”

Pending customary regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026.
