De Heus and Minh Phu Seafood signs agreement for sustainable development of the shrimp industry

In December,  De Heus Co., Ltd. (De Heus) and Minh Phu Seafood Group Joint Stock Company (Minh Phu) signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote the sustainable development of Vietnam’s shrimp value chain. This was reported by https://www.sggp.org.vn/

The ceremony was attended by leaders of the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment); Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee; and scientists, representatives of a number of companies in the shrimp industry value chain.


In the first 11 months of 2025, Vietnam’s shrimp exports will reach a turnover of 4.3 billion USD. De Heus is an enterprise from the Netherlands, with many years of experience in the field of animal nutrition, including aquatic nutrition and the application of advanced technology in the research and production of fish and shrimp feed towards sustainable development, meeting international standards.

According to the cooperation agreement, De Heus will associate with Minh Phu – Vietnam’s leading shrimp processing and exporting enterprise, currently implementing a shrimp value chain model, including seed and nutrition production, farming techniques, processing to export, in order to meet international standards and expand the global market.

Specifically, De Heus will provide advanced nutritional solutions, high-quality aquafeed and technical support services for Minh Phu, and Minh Phu will use shrimp feed products provided by De Heus in the farming areas of its system. In addition, the two sides also cooperate in implementing testing programs, technology transfer, developing farming areas and improving the value of Vietnamese shrimp products in the international market.

In addition to this cooperation agreement, De Heus and Minh Phu are currently coordinating with the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province, SAEN Company and partners to deploy and replicate the model of ultra-intensive circular white leg shrimp farming using RAS-IMTA technology in Ca Mau with a total scale of 1,500 hectares.

Not only focusing on shrimp, the two sides also coordinated to research and develop a salt-tolerant tilapia farming process – from techniques, nutrition to disease prevention and treatment – in order to develop a Vietnamese tilapia brand to adapt to climate change, serving the domestic and international markets.

According to data from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (Vasep), accumulated from the beginning of the year to the end of November 2025, the country’s shrimp exports reached 4.3 billion USD, up 21% over the same period last year, continuing to play the role of the main growth driver of the entire seafood industry. Vietnam’s shrimp exports are expected to reach 4.6 billion USD in 2025, the highest level ever.
