Polinutri releases Essential Fish HP, a nutrition indicated for the most challenging periods in fish farming

The HP Package enhances the effectiveness of the nutritional supply and contributes positively to the breeding results during the coldest periods of the year. Polinutri, a company that operates in the development, production and commercialization of solutions for animal nutrition and health, has just launched the Essential Fish HP feed, a product developed by the company’s technical department in order to meet the needs of tilapia producers in periods of greater challenge such as winter.

“The HP package brings together a series of widely studied additives, with proven efficiency, which, combined with our Essential Fish feed line, already recognized as one of the best on the market, provides resistance to tilapia raised in net tanks or excavated ponds, precisely to the moment when our fish farming partners need it most, like in winter or when pathologies appear”, clarifies Polinutri’s Technical Coordinator, Pedro Castro.

On what are the precise challenges faced by tilapia farmers in terms of climate changes that prompted Polinutri to release these products, Rodrigo Alencar, Manager Business Aquaculture Polinutri explained,

“The winter period results in a reduced consumption of feed by the fish, as their metabolism is regulated by the temperature of the environment, since they are poikilothermic animals. A lack of feed consumption results in reduced intake of nutrients that can affect animal performance.

In addition to these nutritional factors, winter brings challenges to the animal’s health due to specific cold diseases such as Francisellosis. Therefore, it is important to prioritize the animal’s immune system to face and react quickly to the attack by these pathogens.”

The trials showed that tilapia raised in a commercial facility showed performance response and mortality reduction immediately after the first week of feed consumption. Other follow-ups are being carried out in the field and will be compiled by Polinutri technical team to be presented results later this year.

The product, according to Polinutri’s aquaculture technician, has essential oils, vitamins, organic acids, probiotics and prebiotics that help fight pathogenic bacteria, recover the intestinal microbiota, preserve the intestinal wall, stimulate anti-inflammatory actions, accelerate the healing process and potentiates responses to fish intoxication.

With this tool, Polinutri starts to contribute directly to the reduction of mortality rates, in the improvement of the use of the nutrients offered, generating the optimization of the feed conversion and mainly in the reduction of production costs“, concludes Pedro Castro.
