Bara Krishna Hasibuan, Head of the Diplomacy and Public Communication Division of the Task Force for Handling the Hazards of Cesium-137 Radionuclide Radiation and Communities at Risk, revealed that Indonesia has resumed shrimp exports to the United States (US).
“The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), as the Certifying Entity (CE) for the certification process for shrimp products to be exported to the United States (US), has scanned 920 containers of shrimp products,”
said Bara at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs Office in Jakarta on Monday, November 24, 2025.
Of this number, Bara continued, 121 containers of shrimp products have been exported (on water) or are currently en route to the US.
“Furthermore, there are 262 containers currently ready to be shipped to the US. So, the shrimp certification process is underway, and the process is quite fast and effective. We are very grateful to the KKP team for carrying out this process so efficiently,”
said Bara.
Not a shrimp product from BMS Foods For your information, Bara stated that the shrimp products exported were not from PT Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods).
For your information, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported the presence of Cesium-137 in frozen raw shrimp processed by PT BMS Foods. Due to this finding, the FDA has temporarily suspended imports of PT Bahari Makmur Sejati products until the company is deemed capable of addressing the contamination issue.
