The 8th symposium, themed “Green and Smart Development of Cage Aquaculture in Asia,” will be held from July 15–18, 2026, in the beautiful coastal city of Nha Trang, Vietnam. This event is organized by the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS) in partnership with Nha Trang University (NTU), Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU), and the China-ASEAN Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Mariculture Technology, and co-organized by Ocean University of China, Centre for Ecological Aquaculture

Session II: Breeding, Seed Production, and Genetic Improvement: Focus on broodstock management, seed production, and genetic resources for resilient aquaculture development.

Session III: Nutrition, Feed, and Resource Efficiency and Seafood Processing: Focus on nutrition research, feed innovations, and strategies for optimizing feed efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
Session IV: Environment, Climate, Climate Change and Carbon Dynamics: Focus on environmental sustainability, biofouling, ecosystem services, and the role of cage aquaculture in carbon balance and climate adaptation.
Session V: Health Management, Biosecurity and Governance in Aquaculture: Discuss fish health, disease prevention, diagnostics, and biosecurity practices to ensure sustainable production.
Session VI: Sustainable Welfare, Socio-economics, Livelihoods and Gender in Aquaculture: Focus on optimum stocking density, water quality management, animal behavior monitoring, welfare assessment and evaluation, and humane slaughter to ensure farmed fish health and well-being.

Symposium Highlights
The program features eight diverse sessions covering technological innovations, genetic improvement, nutrition, environmental sustainability, and health management. We are also honored to propose a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers from prestigious institutions worldwide.
An optional field trip is scheduled for July 18, 2026, offering visits to finfish hatcheries and traditional floating farms in Nha Phu Bay.
