miXscience has earned the EcoVadis Gold Medal, marking a major milestone in the company’s rapid acceleration of sustainability practices across all areas of its operations.
With a score of 82/100, miXscience now ranks among the top 3% of the 180,000+ companies assessed worldwide over the past year. This recognition highlights miXscience’s long-standing commitment to innovation in the animal nutrition sector and its contribution to more sustainable livestock production. It also reflects the collective, day-to-day efforts of all teams to strengthen responsible business practices.
The company recorded significant progress across all four assessment pillars:
Responsible Purchasing (+22 points) is the area showing the strongest improvement. The progress reflects the rollout of Group-wide guidelines and the introduction of structured reporting — including, for example, tracking the share of spending covered by an EcoVadis assessment. New concrete measures include the integration of CSR criteria into supplier qualification processes and the implementation of sustainability schemes for palm-based purchases, in line with Avril’s Palm & Soy Policy.
Social & Human Rights (+17 points) -the score increase stems from the revision of HR policies, the rollout of concrete initiatives inspired by Great Place To Work survey to enhance employee well-being, and the introduction of a structured reporting framework covering indicators such as diversity, pay equity monitoring, training, and career development. Health and workplace safety measures continue to be a central and long-standing pillar of miXscience’s commitment.
Environment (+14 points). Here miXscience achieved significant progress thanks to strengthened reporting. The result also highlights the acceleration of its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, aimed at quantifying environmental impacts at farm level and supporting customers in the decarbonization of their value chains. It further recognizes miXscience’s efforts to promote animal welfare in its research models, notably through the development of in vitro models within in-house innovation laboratory (Innolab). Combined with modelling tools, these approaches enable precise evaluation of the nutritional value of raw materials used in animal feed. These projects also illustrate the company’s deep commitment to more sustainable livestock production.
Ethics (+7 points). The improvement in this area reflects more comprehensive and transparent reporting, as well as the deployment of training initiatives ensuring that all employees act in line with Avril’s values and in compliance with the Group’s Ethics and Conduct Code.
EcoVadis is a global benchmark for assessing corporate sustainability performance based on international standards across four themes: Environment, Social & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The Gold Medal recognizes the robustness and credibility of the practices implemented. This achievement is fully aligned with the Group’s purpose, Serving the Earth, and its six commitments.
